I Wrote A Book!

For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a writer. In elementary school, I actually wrote a series based on my dog, Betsy. She was an over weight beagle. The series was called Detective Fat and Furry. It starred Betsy as a detective. She had her own detective agency and every dog I knew (my grandmother’s dog, Bear, my neighbor’s dog, Rover, etc.) worked for her and together they would solve mysteries and crimes! I even went as far as making the pages the size of a paperback book and making a front and back cover for them.

So, I am very proud to say, that I have published my first ebook! It’s called Cookie and the Frowny Face Day. It’s about a cat who is having a bad day and tries everything she can to make it better.

The book came about because I was having a frowny face day (aka bad day) myself. It had seemed like I had been having a lot of them at that point and I was determined that something positive was going to come from this bad day.
I don’t quite remember why I chose my cat, Oreo to be the star of the book, as opposed to my other cat. It could have been for a couple of reasons. It may have been that Oreo was the cat that happened to be in the room when I started writing. It could also have been for a while, Olivia liked to chase Oreo around the house much to the black and white cat’s chagrin.

I changed Oreo’s name to Cookie in the book. The reason being I wasn’t sure if I could use the name Oreo because of the cookies. (And don’t worry, Olivia does make an appearance!)

For some reason I thought making a children’s book would be easy. It actually turned out to be tougher than I thought. Writing and illustrating the story was the easy part! Figuring out how to convert it to a format that could be uploaded and read on different devices was the tough part. It took me a while to get it right, but in the end it was worth it!

For those of you that are interested, Cookie and the Frowny Face Day can be found on Amazon.

I love writing and look forward to writing many more books in the future? Have you written a book? Have you achieved a life long dream?
