The Story of…Get Well Soon Bear and Animal Friends

Get Well Soon Bear and Animal Friends is my latest design to be approved in my Greeting Card Universe shop and it came about because of a tooth ache.

Get Well Soon Bear and Animal Friends cardI woke up on a Sunday with a wicked bad tooth ache and a bump on my gum near a tooth that has a crown on it. I made plans to call the dentist the next day.

However, when I woke up that Monday morning, I had bumps on my neck so I decided to call the doctor instead. The doctor told me that I had a bacterial infection in my tooth and the lumps on my neck were swollen lymph nodes.

He wrote me a prescription for some antibiotics, but suggested I try taking some Aleve for some time and only fill the prescription if the pain got worse or the Aleve didn’t work.

Happily, the Aleve worked and I figured that was the end of it.

Or so I thought.  Fast forward to April when I went to my dentist for my routine cleaning and check up, I was told there was a problem with my crown and it had to be replaced.  I was also told that I needed a root canal ASAP!

I was scared!  I’m not a big fan of pain and I didn’t know a lot about the procedure. (Lots of questions were asked, but it didn’t help that friends and family members were saying things like root canals were some of the worst experiences in their lives, etc)

After making my appointment, I decided to at least try to squeeze something good out of the situation and decided to make a design for getting through a root canal that evolved into a get well card.

In the end, the root canal turned out to not be that bad.  Mind you, it’s not something I want to do everyday, but thanks to new technology, they’re nothing to fear.  The worst part was getting the Novocaine with a needle and that only hurt a little and for a split second and this is coming from someone who hates needles!

Did you know?

  • This design was originally suppose to be a “Hope Your Root Canal Makes Life More Bearable” card, but it evolved into a Get Well Card.  (That’s why the bear has his head tied up like he has a toothache.)

When have you squeezed something good out of a bad situation?  Tell us about it in the comments!
